About Us

Since formation the company has been based from home in Albert Terrace, Aberdeen. This home/office has been around for quite a bit longer. It was built in 1843 from Aberdeen granite, but in earlier rough cut stone rather than the sharp grey cut Rubislaw Granite which was later exported throughout the world. Here is a picture of Albert Terrace around the turn of the 19th century. alongside the street now in the 21st century. Little has changed except the cars. Our house is on the right. The church to the left is known as the "Tartan Kirk" because of the many coloured and patterned stone construction.
The street is still cobbled and has been closed to through traffic. The original gas street lighting was removed a long time ago but was recently replaced with period electrical lighting. The exterior woodwork on the houses is now white rather than the original black or dark grey. The tartan kirk is also unchanged. It has been renovated over the last few years and the main stained glass rose window was recently refurbished. |
